So Far 2

Another month, another poster for Low Rez. We're playing a regional concert -as part of our So Far series- in a pretty town called Meeniyan, in South Gippsland here in Victoria.  Can't wait.

Home and Away meets Neighbours

My image for this month's Law Institute Journal celebrated an article in The Irish Law Society Gazette chronicling a meeting of the leaders of the law societies of Ireland, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and England and Wales. Apparently they were all photographed looking bored around the board room table and the heading was 'Home and Away meets Neighbours'. Remember when Kylie was a suburban car mechanic, those were the days.

Ten Favourite Places to Visit in Newfoundland and Labrador.

I had some fun doing this illo for McGraw Hill Ryerson in Canada. Mack Furlong wrote a humorous article on Ten Favourite Places to Visit in Newfoundland and Labrador. This image depicts a fishing village called Maudlin Brook where, legend says, a mordant Irish immigrant in the nineteenth century wept so much that he created the river that runs through it. This is not him, this is a jolly old fisherman of today.

A vintage cover

Don't you love the interweb. I was surfing the net looking for something else entirely and came upon an old book jacket I did for Penguin. This was around 1983, so as I'm still -ahem- 30something, I must have been around 3 when I did it. That would explain the illustration style of a deranged kindergarten child.

State of Etiquette

An image for Law Institute Journal about the concern some practitioners have about the slipping standards of etiquette on the streets and in court.

Both Sides Now

My design and illustration for Low Rez's latest concerts. Low Rez is Melbourne's only male pop choir and this season we joined forces with the Melbourne Singers of Gospel for a hugely enjoyable day showcasing our two diverse styles and repertoires. Loads of fun and at one stage there were 100 or more singers on stage for numbers like Moon River and Both Sides Now.

Two Little Aliens Pop Up Books

Some sketches and finished images from a couple of Alien Counting and Shapes pop up books I worked on a little while back for Threefolds Ltd in the UK. Pop up books are a small feat of engineering genius I discovered, although of course you can't tell from these flat images. I can't vouch for how successful the printed and assembled books look because I'm still waiting on my copy.. after 18 months..still waiting...:)

The Sunshine Primary School Dragon

I spoke to a couple of classes of delightful and engaging school kids at Sunshine Primary School who showed me their beautiful drawings of dragons. They were dragon-crazy. So I just had to come home and draw my own interpretation of The Sunshine Primary School dragon.

Investment Executive magazine.

This is for Investment Executive magazine in the US. Apparently financial advisors over there are happy with where they are right now, things are just about right. Just like Goldilocks. Until the bears come storming in I guess...

A Family Outing

An image for Child magazine accompanying a story about how a family copes in every day situations -in this case a big, noisey traffic jam- when the youngest child is autistic and the father has autistic tendencies.

Mediators using humour!

An image for a piece in the Law Institute Journal suggesting that mediators for VCAT (Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal) sometimes use humour to 'lighten up' disputes. Bwahahahaha....
